Fiction Writing

I have always wanted to be a novelist. In fact, I stood up in the third grade and announced to my entire class that I would write a book while living in a tree in Africa (I was an idealistic eight-year-old). I'm proud to say that I have completed a manuscript for my first novel, We Lost Mom, and am currently looking for representation.

After 12 months in The Book Incubator program with Mary Adkins and Rufi Thorpe, I was able to write a story that touches on the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters, told through the viewpoints of each character.

When 80-year-old Mary Jo Jenkins runs away while on an impetuous solo trip to Norway, her adult daughter Charlotte is unceremoniously chosen by their dysfunctional family to bring her home. Charlotte doesn't know that her mother had bigger reasons for heading to Europe, filled with secrets about the Jenkins family that go back 50 years.
